Please, join us as we share the wonder and majesty of Elk Creek Falls and the Giant Cedar Grove with, Sarah, our 4-H exchange student from Japan! She enjoys hiking, especially to waterfalls, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to get the family out on the trail. This 2.6-mile, looped trail is a popular, family hike with wide open trails that are stroller accessible. There are vault bathrooms at the trailhead which is just outside the town of Elk River, Idaho.

The Giant Cedar Grove is a scenic 15 miles north of Elk Creek Falls and boasts "the largest known tree in North America east of the Cascade-Sierra Crest." It also has a paved trail that meanders through the grove. Depending on when we finish the hike around the Falls, we may do lunch either at the trailhead or at the Cedar Grove.

This is an easy hike but it is through the shade of the trees, so you may wish to bring a long-sleeve shirt or light sweater depending on the weather. At the time of this posting, Accuweather suggests 84F and mostly sunny with a 55% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm, so maybe pack a rain coat, too. Welcome to Idaho.

We're looking to have a good time sauntering through the woods and we hope you'll join us! See you on the trail!
