This warm weather is offering the perfect chance to make a dash through Canyon Creek on the Dworshak Reservoir in Orofino this weekend, December 30th. The last time we were out here was in the spring of 2021. We had quite the adventure interpreting Gaia Maps and finding our way along the ribbon-marked trail, but we had fun and we're looking forward to seeing more of it this time.

Current weather reports are calling for 45 degrees and mostly cloudy. Hopefully that holds and makes for a pleasant day of hiking. Almost like Fall weather! Dress in layers to moderate your temperature and wear sturdy shoes. We'll meet up at the Orofino City Park at 8:30 AM and hit the trail at about 9:00 AM. The plan is to wander out along the trail for a few hours, maybe covering 4 miles, we'll do lunch on trail and then we'll wander on back to our cars. If you work up enough of an appetite, feel free to join us at House of JuJu in Orofino for dinner after the hike. If we play it right, we can be there by 4:00 PM.

We're looking forward to a fun day on the trail and good food to follow. While Canyon Creek Trail is not a grueling hike, it does range up and down the hillside along the reservoir. We'll pace ourselves to stay together, but if anyone wants to stretch their legs and cover more miles, or fall back early, we encourage you to hike your own hike. The Clearwater Trekkers are here to support you in getting out on the trail whatever your comfort level is. Here's a map of the route we'll explore:

See you on the trail!
