Our Downriver Trail adventure continues! The last time The Clearwater Trekkers were out on this trail was in 2019. Read about it here:

This time, we'll pick up where we left off at Fish Creek near mile marker 120 on Highway 12. We'll park at the boat launch and make the short walk to the trailhead. Our goal is Snowshoe Creek Falls about 3.7 miles down trail where we'll break for lunch before heading back. All together, we're looking at about 7.4 miles. It is a mountain trail, so there will be plenty of ups and downs, but it's also one of the more pleasant hikes in the area because the trail runs along the side of the mountain parallel to the highway rather than climbing straight up the slope like many others. (Here's looking at you, Split Creek Trail!)

Current weather reports are calling for 62 degrees and cloudy with a 5% chance of rain in Kooskia. Since we will be farther into the mountains, we recommend bringing a rain jacket and light sweater you can remove as we hike. As long as it stays dry, we don't expect muddy trails, making trail runners or light boots a great choice for footwear. Bring some food and plenty of water, too.

This should be a fun hike. See you on the trail!

If you can't make the whole hike with us, but you still want to see Snowshoe Falls on your own, you can park at the turnoff with the Wilderness sign. There is a trail across the road from the western edge of this turnout. This half-mile trail that will take you right up to Snowshoe Falls.
