Join us for an adventure on Johns Creek Trail loop on Saturday, June 13th! Tucked away off Highway 14 about 30 miles from Grangeville, this trail follows Johns Creek through classic central Idaho backcountry with a mix of forested sections, open views, and plenty of mountain scenery along the way. Our very own Shelli Clement first brought this trail to my attention. I reckon it’s about high time we finally hiked it!

The plan is to follow the loop counterclockwise for a more gradual ascent. Still, expect a solid climb with beautiful scenery, and plenty of opportunities to stop, catch our breath, and take in the views. This will be a challenging 12.3-mile hike that loops around the old Gilmore Ranch, which is private property. See trail details on the Gaia Map below.

Pack food, plenty of water, sun protection, and tic spray. Wear sturdy shoes and dress in layers. Be prepared for unexpected weather! We hit the trail at 9:00am and expect to be back to our vehicles around 5:00pm.

If we’re feeling up to it after the hike, we can head over to Palenque Mexican Restaurant for some grub before heading home.

See you on the trail!
