We have seen the Big Eddy trail arrayed in multiple seasons. We've hiked there in the sunlight and the snow. Usually, we hike northbound from the Big Eddy Marina, but it's been a couple years since we've been there and it's been even longer since we hiked the Big Eddy Trail from the north end. The last time we hiked southbound from Freeman Creek was in January of 2016! We actually did a thru-hike of the whole trail, which involved meeting up at the Marina, leaving a car there, and then carpooling to the Freeman Creek side. After hiking 10 miles, a few of us carpooled back to Freeman Creek to get our vehicles and head home. It made for a long day but it was a fun hike, even in the snow.

Although not a thru-hike, this Saturday, November, 30th, we'll do a southbound, out-and-back day hike starting at Freeman Creek. The north end of the Big Eddy Trail is arguably the more beautiful and scenic end. It'll be good to visit here again.

According the Idaho Parks and Recreation website, there is a $7/vehicle entrance fee. I do have a State Park Pass for my vehicle and can carry up to three more hikers with me.

Current weather reports don't show rain or snow for Thanksgiving weekend, but we do live in the mountains, so come layered up for cold and potential rain. We'll aim at hiking in 4 or 5 miles before turning around. We'll stop somewhere along the way with a view to eat lunch, at least until the cold chases us off.
