At our Snowshoes and Snacks presentation at the Lewiston Public Library, I mentioned Moscow Mountain as a place I'd love to explore. Matthew Singer's article about snowshoeing East Moscow Mountain inspired me to follow in his tracks. So, this Saturday, February 22nd, The Clearwater Trekkers are going for the summit!

The trailhead is at the Tamarack Road Hiking Path Parking Area north of Troy. On Google Maps it shows Hatter Creek Rd. If anyone in Lewiston wants to carpool or caravan, we can meet up at the Lewiston Community Center parking lot at 7:45am and head out at 8:00am with a target trailhead time of 9:00am. Feel free to use the Discussion space below to work out a carpool meet up in Moscow or surrounding areas.

Don't have snowshoes? You can check them out at the Lewiston Public Library! Remember to dress in layers that you can shed to moderate your temperature. Pack a lunch and bring plenty of water. We'll plan on doing lunch at the summit unless it's too cold. Remember to leave dry socks and shoes in the car to change into after the hike. It makes a world of a difference!

It's a 2.25 mile trek from the trailhead to the summit (4.5 miles roundtrip) with about 1,000 feet elevation gain. We'll follow the road, though, so it should be an easy grade. And it's all downhill on the way back to the trailhead! I'll link a Gaia Map of our route below. See you on the trail!
