The Redbird Creek Trail is a central feature to the Redbird Canyon Wildlife Management Area in Waha, Idaho. It’s an 11-mile, out-and-back hike with nearly 2,200 feet elevation gain…on the way back. That’s right. This trail drops 2,200 feet down to a beach on the edge of the Snake River, and then we have to climb back out.
As a reward, we’ll treat ourselves to a messy, zesty Waha Burger after the hike!
This is a long hike that would easily be rated as moderate to difficult, perhaps even very difficult depending on your hiking experience. The weather is looking to be about 60 degrees and mostly cloudy, but this is Idaho so keep an eye on the weather for changes.
Let’s meet at the trailhead at 8:00 AM to get an early start. Bring plenty of water, a lunch, and sturdy shoes. I also recommend hiking poles.
